Transition Market Saturday 13th February

Transition Market is a volunteer run project to help build community resilience by re-creating a local economy, supporting new businesses and the promotion of skill sharing and education.

Although it is held at Sneinton Market (for economical reasons as much as anything else) the idea is to get businesses/community groups etc from across Nottingham involved.

The criteria for a stall is that it must be either handmade, locally produced or skill sharing/educational.

Covered stalls cost £10, table top £4 (that is the flat rate no profit is made from the rent) skillshare space is free but limited at the moment.

We are always on the look out for more stall holders, skill sharers, musicians and entertainers for future markets. Please contact Beccy on 07789917429 or beki_boo65@hotmail.com if you are interested in (or know someone who would be) holding a stall, sharing a skill or even helping out organise the market itself, looking forward to hearing from you.

Stonebridge City Farm in under serious pressure

I thought every one should know that Stonebridge City Farm in under serious pressure from the city council who appear to be making the giving up of 10% of the farms land a condition of renewing the lease for the farm. The council wants the land to be used by the farms neighbours to park cars in front of their houses.

The council maintains that they have under taken a full consultation and have found that 15 neighbours of the 31 next to the farm who agree with the scheme.
The farm had 10,000 visitors last year. But they do not seem to count.
Do you think it is time to let the council know what we think about it?
If you haven"t visited the farm please pop in its on Stonebridge Rd Nottingham

Transition Training

We are holding a Transition Town Training weekend on January 23rd and 24th here in Derby, which we know is only 3 weeks away …. and we have some spare places….

It’s being held near the station for easy transport and a flyer is attached with more details and there is a booking form as well….

As I have said we would like to get some more people to get the right numbers and so is there anybody in Transition West Bridgford who would like to come on the weekend .. it’ll be great opportunity to increase your knowledge about Transitioning, recharge the batteries after Copenhagen and Chris tmas, meet other Transitioners in the E Midlands, get some new ideas, make contacts, etc.

I would be grateful if this message could be sent out to as many people as possible…..

Any queries please contact me …

We also might have one or two bursary places …

Cheers for now..

Mid winter, snowy and still producing electricity!

We had quite a bit of snow last night and the PV panels were covered first thing this morning.
Now at 11am the sun is out and we are still making a little bit of energy 151w!
