We took over the derelict allotment in March and managed to grow some crops this season including potatoes, several types of bean, carrots, courgette, leeks. We were lucky to obtain a shed and small greenhouse free as the original owners had no need for them. These have been re-constructed on an existing slab of concrete which was surprisingly uneven. The water butts and paving slabs were also re-used. Two raised beds have been made, one using second-hand 6' long scaffolding boards which are very solid. We still have a lot of digging to do, and removing broken glass etc, in the meantime most of the ground has been covered with old carpet to suppress the couch grass. You can see the plot from Loughborough Road through the gate - the TWB sign was made from old bottle tops strung together on a wire attached to a piece of hardboard.

As it happens there is a garden on Melton Road that has come available, if you are interested in turning this into a little haven contact Transition West Bridgford and we can get you in touch with the owners
